"Route of the Hiawatha" Trail
This 15 mile portion of the MILW right-of-way was converted to trail use. The trail crosses the St. Paul Pass in the Bitteroot Range at the Idaho-Montana border, and is available to hikers and bikers.
Some of the sights include the 1.8 mile long Taft Tunnel under St. Paul Pass, as well as several other tunnels, bridges and trestles.
Access to the trail is off I-90 at either Wallace, ID or at Milepost 0 at the state line.
The trail is operated by the Lookout Pass Ski Area for the U.S. Forest Service. A fee is required to use the trail.
